H600 Sister site: [ Wiki ] [ GenDB ] [ eMail Lists ]
This site is for the living to help bring our ancestors back to life for all to learn and share. But the site also becomes a gathering place for the family to interact like announce weddings, births and even tragic events. Grieve and have a laugh by sharing what you remember about a deceased relative. And possibly start mending those wounds of divisions started long ago. Not to forgive sins of the past but simply to revel in how unique we each are within our common ancestral story. We are simply cousins helping cousins.
Whose your Daddy? How about your Mama? Are they really your Cuz'?
Features of this site
The Wiki site here can be best explored via the links at the left (or possibly below in a small screen such as a smartphone). Start with Families to look for one you know. Much of the content in all the various tools are behind login for family members. If you can claim ancestry back to a family listed here, you are welcome to request a login. The Wiki provides prose for unstructured data not easily captured in the Genealogy Database. A separate Gallery helps to capture complete heirloom collections of photos and other memorabilia from each family group; as an archive to pass on to the later generations. Web- or email-based forums round out the major features here.
Each extended family (or Family Group) has a moderator for the family gathering of descendants. Adding your email address to your Genealogy Database record is how you become involved with family groups. Getting an account to contribute, even if just in the email forums, is the first step to getting placed in the family tree (if not there already).
Search inside the Genealogy Database if the family is not obvious from the Families page. Or consider starting a new Family Group if yours is not listed but should be. A few individuals who spent significant portions of their life single or have significant history to report as individuals have pages in the People section. There are also pages for important Places to give a local history to an area in a time that was important to one or more families. And a catch-all Branches to capture work on traditional Family Branches, Surname Studies and Ancient Haplogroup (DNA) Studies; as well as specific populations of interest. See our Sister Site for more information on branch studies for one line included here; especially in its using DNA to discover where records are weak.
Getting Involved
Register to become involved. To get a login, you must be a relation in the Genealogy Database with your record entered and complete. Only those with a login can see living relatives, source documents, full galleries, all forums, and similar. There is a single login for all areas (Wiki, Forums, Genealogy Database, Photo Galleries, etc) [note: currently, you have to login separately to each activity.]Contributing, Not Just Sharing
