Covered here is the analysis of the Jordan of Slovenia Y DNA testing. Both the yDNA STR Haplotype and SNP Haplogroup are matching reasonably closely to a number of other Slovenians. Oddly, all with different surnames. So it appears surname adoption did not match the local, family lines but arose independently. This as the surnames have research back into the 1700's with very stable families.
Early on Tony Popish developed the Slovenian branch Haplogroup chart of I1-Y3562. Only recently, yFull, FTDNA and even ISOGG have matched this level of branching he identified so early on. The branch path on FTDNA for Jordan is: The path in ISOGG YCC long form for Jordan is I1-a2a2a1a1a~ (as of Jun 2017). yFulls Y3562 and FTDNAs Y3573 are aliases for the same haplogroup.
The STR-sourced Haplotype reflects this SNP-sourced Haplogroup. In that our Jordan tester is closest to the Popish lines but still distinct. We have tested y111 STR markers and extracted 200+ more using yFull's service. Tony has tested his kits to y111 STR markers. With the recent BigY-500 transition at FTDNA, we now have over 500 STR marker values available for comparison. Jordan has since gone even beyond BigY-700 by doing WGS testing.
I1 is more unique a haplogroup for Slavic peoples. It is more densely found in the Scandinavian / Nordic area and hence more associated with Viking invaders into various areas. With that said, we have now seen one Kuhar line (another old Slovenian-found name) to be I1 also. See the links below for more on the ancient I1 haplogroup. That Kuhar line is at leaf A2064/A1994 and branched different from the Jordan line below Z59 nearly 5,000 years ago. I1 is also officially known as I-M253.
