John Jano and Mary Evan Suhovic
at the turn of 1900 in Cleveland, Ohio. Welcome Cousins!
On this page:
Mary Jano (nee Suhovic; nee Evans) was born, along with her parents, in eastern Europe. We know they spoke Slovak. In fact, Mary Jano never learned to speak English even though she lived in the Cleveland area until 1959.
John Jano enters the picture when Mary's first husband Joe Suhovic dies in 1919. See the Suhovic Evan page for more of that history and the daughters who stayed with Mary while forming this new family. John married Mary two months after Joe died.
They had three children together. The oldest, a daughter, was still born in 1920. John Joseph and Mike came soon after in 1921 and 1923. Soon after John Jano got his naturalization papers in 1925 he left the family. So we really cover this family and its history as part of the Suhovic Evan page as they are really intertwined and nearly one in the same.
After the 1930 census showing John Jano, divorced, and living with a male partner; we are not sure what happened to him further at this time.
