Ban Jordan

Josef Ban and Josefina Jordan

in Poplar Bluff, Missouri from 1900 to 197x. Welcome Cousins!

Josef Ban married Josefina Jordan in Slovenia, likely Å entjernej, around the turn of the century in 1900. By 1907 Josef was in Milwaukee, Wisconsin working to save money to bring his family over. In 1910, Josefine and the two youngest at the time came over. Martin, the oldest, came later (it appears).

Slovenian Homeland

Josefina had one brother, Joseph Jordan, who would inherit the family farm and riches as this was the way of the time. They were born and raised in Å entjernej in the southeast edge of Slovenia with Zagreb the nearest big town. At the time, this was still Astro-Hungary but under Austrian control. In the 1900's, times were very tough and war was already brewing so many left for better futures to America and elsewhere.
