So it ends up the same lady on Facebook who knew the village name
on the passenger list also happens to have an (illegal for
Slovenia) copy of the Parish Status Animarum (Family Book). While
I await the actual page image with details, here is what she has
hinted at in messages to date and I thus captured in the database.

The older sister married a man from Malo Globoko #5 in 1883 (4
years before Josef left for America). But Josef and his family
were born in Velike Rebrce #1 nearby. Both are in the Zagradec
parish. It is not clear if the family moved before Josef left as
I have not seen the records yet. Josef also has two brothers.
She named the mother as Anna Filipic. The Family Record listed
the father as Anton Košak which matches the death certificate
information that Anna Košak nee Rogelj provided. Further verifying
that this is likely all tied together and our Josef. The record
gives a birth date of 16 February 1868. Almost a year older than
the 1900 census entry for Josef. This would make him 19 on
arrival in Nov 1867

To help you further, below is an annotated Google Map of these
various locations.

The villages mentioned are roughly 1/2 way between the capital
Ljubljana and another major city Novo Mesto. The Rogelj girls
declared Novo Mesto as their departure point. Which was the
largest city and governance location over the area at the time.
My mother always recalled Žužemberk as the name mentioned where
Josef Košak came from. Although a small town still today, it is an
"ancient" one with a castle and likely the governance place of the
time. As mentioned earlier, the villages (really neighborhoods)
mentioned above are closer to Žužemberk than Ivančna Gorica -- the
newly created town since WWII that governs over the villages.
Looking at the blow-up detail, you see the location of Malo
Globoko, Zagradec (parish) and Velike Rebrce along the river Krka.

I also highlighted Trebnje and Sentrupert. Sentrupert was given
a number of years ago as a possible location for the Rogelj's;
which we have since proven not connected to us. (At least not by
the Rougle family that came from there and did not DNA match us.)
I am now concentrating on this new area for the Rogelj family as I
still suspect the Košak and Rogelj families knew each other due to
the 1 month after arrival of Anna's marriage to Josef.

No real progress on the Žele's as of yet for similar issues that
hold up progress on Rogelj's and Košak's to date. No real birth
date, ship arrival record or original village. It behooves me to
point out a record I did find 5 years ago but have not been able
to verify the information to date. See <a moz-do-not-send="true"
